Mount Liamuiga and Black Rocks

Not for the faint-hearted or the unfit, the steep hike to the crater of dormant volcano Mount Liamuiga rewards walkers with fantastic views of neighboring islands from St Kitts' highest point. Guided tours start in Belmont Estate and take about two hours each way. Dramatic cliffs formed by the erupting volcano many years ago can be seen at Black Rocks, near the village of Saddlers. Treks to the tip and back typically take a whole day to complete, seeing walkers pass primeval groves of old mango trees, delve into cloud forests and take in 360-degree panoramas of the ocean, peppered with Saba and Antigua on the horizon!

Drive and see the seascapes

The St. Kitts interior is wonderfully jungly - but a drive around the coast can be just as rewarding. As well as classic Caribbean beaches, you’ll find stretches of dark volcanic sand, unusual lava formations, beautiful villages and lush foliage. The finger of land that reaches out towards its sister isle of Nevis is well worth exploring.

Explore Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park

Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park is one of the most expansive and well-preserved British polygonal style fortification in the Western Hemisphere. Travelers can walk to the top and wander through the courtyard and tour the old officer quarters and see the huge cannons facing out to sea. From the high vantage point, it is easy to see why this spot was chosen for a defensive fortress to be built.

Walking Tour of Basseterre

Highlights include a tour of Independence Square, the bustling Basseterre Circus, inspired by London’s Piccadilly Circus and home to the Berkeley Memorial, the Anglican church and the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church featuring amazing 18th-century architecture. Don’t miss the national museum in the Old Treasury building located in downtown Basseterre.
Ziplining

Zipline in the lush rainforests!

A zipline staff from Sky Safari will guide you through a total of five lines up to 1350 ft long, that offer breathtaking views as you soar through a tropical rainforest. It's an adrenaline-fuelled experience that allows you to reconnect with nature. Zipline through the ravine, get a glimpse at Brimstone Hill and listen to the teeming sounds of the forest.

Take to the water

Surrounded by warm blue seas, the island is great for all manner of water sports. Kiteboarding has become a key pursuit for thrill-seekers – there’s tuition if needed – and there are several places to hire windsurfers, sailing dinghies and the exhilarating Hobie Cats. If you like to scuba dive or snorkel, this is also a great spot. For a less intense experience, try to glide across the sea in a kayak, which is also a great way to spot wildlife. Try the Glass Bottom Kayak Tour for some real fun!
